Action Plan

This study took place between February 1, 2017 and March 31, 2017. During this time, math instruction consisted of a short whole group lesson, followed by 45 minutes of math stations. Students  moved through each station daily, utilizing the selected strategies for each rotation. Data was collected during this time through observations, surveys, interviews, and time on task tallies.

Implementation​

The implementation of the selected strategies took place during math instruction through the use of small group stations. The students were placed in flexible small groups, based on ability. The groups worked through four stations titled, M.A.T.H. The M station stands for Meet the Teacher, in which the small group met directly with me for differentiated instruction in addition and subtraction. The A stands for At Your Seat. Each group completed addition and subtraction practice problems at their seats. The cover, copy, compare strategy was also be implemented during this rotation. When seat work was completed, students continued practice through the use of flashcards. The T stands for Technology in which students worked independently on an iPad playing addition and subtraction based games. The H stands for Hands On. In this station students played addition and subtraction based games with a partner or partners.
